Biography
Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor with a passion for helping children and their families succeed in all areas of life. Heather has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Legal Studies from the University of Delaware and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. Her Master’s studies specialized in clinical practice with families and children with a focus on a variety of individual, group, and family therapy methods.
Heather places strong emphasis on developing a warm and nurturing relationship with her clients and families. She utilizes a family systems approach, concentrating on a healthy family dynamic as an important part of the overall success of a child’s health and well-being. Heather looks at all areas of a child’s development, including but not limited to social, emotional, behavioral, environmental, and educational factors, in order to understand and support the child as a whole.
Heather’s areas of expertise include working with children and adolescents experiencing emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional behavior, and executive functioning difficulties. She practices with empathy, patience, and understanding, while providing evidence-based treatment, coping skills, and practical strategies to assist in managing these challenges.
Heather holds over 8 years of previous experience in the public school setting working with K-12 students. Her knowledge of the special education process and the overall school system will benefit families in need of these services and/or general school support and resources. Heather is also certified to provide clinical supervision to therapists obtaining advanced licensure.
