This time of year comes with a lot of new beginnings. New backpacks, new teachers, a new classroom, new clothes and most important a NEW SCHEDULE.  September is a time for organizing your routine and after school activities, a time for a fresh start.

It is important to prepare your children with what their new schedule will look like.

When will they have soccer?

When are they to do their homework?

Is there downtime?

Children (and adults) work well with organization and expectations being set ahead of time.  Use this fresh start to help your child set up their daily routine.  Applications such as Cozi, Mom’s Daily Planner or Family Organizer will help streamline everyone’s schedule. A color coordinated calendar or white board in the kitchen can be an easy and accessible way for your children to see what their week looks like.

As parents, you can make scheduling fun by using colors or fun code names on a calendar or daily routine. If you are able to organize your schedule and day to day life, your children will feel calmer, you will feel in control, and your days will run smoothly.
